HOW CAN you HELP?
Please discuss at home what “safe” internet for kids means.
** THIS IS HOW WE ASKED PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE BEFORE FEB 28, 2021 **
1. Please send in a drawing or …
What do kids (ages 6-10 years) and their parents think when asked what a “safe” Internet actually means?
For example: Families with WiFi and connected devices at home might worry about how easy it is for kids to play violent games or watch unfiltered video content on social media.
Or they worry about people online with bad intentions, anonymous bullying and kids sharing private information with the world.
Please help us:
Discuss at home what a “safe” internet for kids means.
Can you capture this in a drawing? Or write a short story and highlight the keywords.
Or email us via
hessel+milou@newmediasquad.com
Outcome?
Inspired by all your answers, words and drawings we will create digital art!*
* We will publish the artwork online for free under an open license. You will be able to download the artwork and use it to create your own stickers, t-shirts, handbags etc.
2. Do we need a symbol / icon?
One more thing!
In our country, when selecting a television program or movie, icons are used to inform parents about the content. They look like this.
These icons are advising parents on harmful elements that a certain production contains.
Please help us:
Should there be a symbol or icon for websites and apps to advise parents it’s safe for kids?
Do you have a suggestion what it should look like?
Inspired? Design us a symbol that will be internationally recognised as a safe Internet for kids under 10?
Or email us via
hessel+milou@newmediasquad.com
3. Thank You!
This project will be successful when you have had a discussion at home about the safety of the Internet for kids.
With your feedback we want to inspire more people during the virtual Mozilla Festival.
In the first week before the event we will ask an artist to go through all the “safe Internet for kids” drawings / feedback and create a digital artwork.
We will share this with you and the world free of charge. We will send you an email in the second week of March.
You can then use this artwork on your t-shirts, bags, caps or backpack stickers – we look forward to seeing what you design :-) and one day we hope to meet in person.
Thank you for participating!
